investigating to see if squatters could be to blame. 13 action news reporter marissa kynaston is live near clayton and alexander with more on what happened. you can see some of this house is boarded up-- neighbors tell us this house has been empty for about two months firefighters were called out to the vacant home around one this morning-- and put out a very neighbors tell us there have been several problems with this house-- since the previous residents moved out-- they say this is the second fire in just a couple weeks-- and there have been two other breakins. neighbors tell us squatters--and possibly a gang-- were using the empty home. but the problems with this house didnt just start a couple months ago. later in the newscast-- we'll tell you why this home has a history of problems.
accused of shooting and killing a customer at starbucks.... is scheduled to face a judge. only on 13 action news... pedro garcia's wife....is breaking her silence. 13 action news reporter parker collins is live near warm springs and rainbow... at the starbucks where this all started. parker? this is where that deadly shooting happened. it was closed all day yesterday. garcia's wife says she was watching the terror un the news sunday. soon after she realized... the suspect was her husband. police say garcia rushed in.... and gunned down a customer after his credit card was declined at the drive thru. we're told the 34 year-old was having financial problems and his brother had recently died. police believe the victim was a complete stranger killed after some sort of confrontation. his identity has not yet been released. he disappeared for a day or

and decatur. metro says the man who was killed in the parking lot of "top notch apparel" was visiting an illegal after-hours club. that club was apparently in the back room of the store. so far, nobody has been arrested. now after being pulled from a boat that flipped at lake havasu over the weekend. a dozen other people were on board when rough waters caused the boat to capsize, trapping the child underneath. everyone was able to make to shore, except for that 18-month-old girl. rescuers had to flp the boat up on it's side to pull her out. we're told the infant was wearing a lifejacket. moving to houston, texas now...and the shooter who injured 9 people near a strip
has identified the gunman as a lawyer who had fallen on hard times. investigators found guns, 26- hundred rounds of ammo and nazi materials in and around his porsche. witnesses say he was armed with a rifle and took aim at the windshields of passing cars early yesterday morning jm: "the shooter was truly trying to kill. it was pure intent. the shooter was literally pointing the gun and windshields and shooting people's faces." the rampage finally came to an end when police shot the suspect dead. shot is in critical condition. fbi officials don't believe this shooting is tied to terrorism. time now is x:xx --- major floods threatening a city right now. over 2-thousand are being asked to get out of their homes as rivers and creeks swell. we'll have the latest on the threat.
on high alert as the cedar river continues to rise. the mayor of cedar rapids has asked people to leave their homes and get to safety. the river is threatening to rise to its highest level since 2008. back then, it caused a deadly flood and 10-billion dollars worth of damage. so far, only half the people living in low-lying areas have left. right now, there's about 25- hundred people in the danger the national weather service predicts the river will crest at any time this morning. monsoon moisture continues to surge north from mexico allowing skies to become partly cloudy by this afternoon. possible showers start this evening into wednesday morning. high temperatures today will be

we first broke this story yesterday on good morning las vegas. this morning we're hearing from neighbors who were forced from their homes because of that fire. take sot evelyn mcauley, evacuee 19:26:13-19:26:17 "we heard screaming next door and my husband got up and looked out the window." butt to 19:27:07-19:27:09 "she was just frantic." first responders and neighbors were hugging the mother after the fire was out. firefighters say a burning candle started all of this. were house sitting when this happened. the mom suffered minor burns to her hands. the home was badly damaged by the fire. it's your voice your vote in the race for president. several claims were made by both candidates at last night's debate. this morning, we're putting those to the test with our partners at politifact. trade and the economy were big topics throughout. at one point hillary clinton attacked donald trump over the
donald was one of the people who rooted for the housing crisis. he said back in 2006, 'gee, i hope it does collapse because then i can go in and buy some and make some money.' well it did collapse". trump: that's called business by the way" politifact says trump did say those things during an interview for an audio book that was part of trump university. but they say trump was talking about investment in real estate and was 'not' hoping the entire economy would crash. so.. politifact rates clinton's next, trump attacked clinton on trade deal saying she flip-flopped on support for the trans-pacific partnership: " you called it the gold standard. you called it the gold standard of trade deals. you said it was the finest deal you've ever seen.". politi-fact cites a -2- thousand -12- clinton speech in australia in which she said.... "it was very interesting to see how they answer the questions. specifically beating around the question instead of actually answering it, which probably would've been the better option." several of the students are volunteering to work at the unlv debate on october 19th. unlv students are getting a very unique opportunity ahead of the las vegas debate.

sonoma. the fire has burned over 15- hundred acres since sunday. no injuries have been reported. the fire is now 45-percent contained. the cause for both of these fires is still under investigation. this morning, a 22-year-old man is on his way back to land after more than a week lost at sea. nathan carman was spotted over 1- hundred miles off the massachusetts coast days after the coast guard call off its search. he's in good condition after being found in a life raft with but carman's mother, linda, is still missing after the pair went fishing 10 days ago. coast guard nicole groll sot: when the boat started taking on water he went to look for his mom to get into the life raft and he could not find her. coast guard officials say there's little hope linda is alive. they're expected to speak to nathan tonight about what happened. president obama welcomed native american tribes from around the country to the white house. it was all for the tribal nations conference. as he entered the conference,
